Assam - Itakhooli Estate - WS
In the northeastern state of Assam in India, along the Brahmaputra River grow the hearty, malty Assam teas. The heavy rainfall and hot, humid day time temperatures in this area create the perfect green house like environment for growth, as well as helping to create the unique taste found only in Assam teas. Their distinct flavor can be enjoyed "as is"; however, Assam teas are often used in conjunction with other teas to create numerous blends, specifically breakfast teas.
Grown from a clonal bush, this distinctive and delicious TGFOP black tea coes from the eastern most region of Assam, closest to the Burmese border, in the Tinsukia district. The well-formed tippy leaves brew to a deep amber cup with a smooth taste that has a natural hint of raspberry. Enjoy a delightful cup with breakfast or afternoon tea.
Brew tea at 212º - steep for 3 minutes.
Assam teas complement foods such as chocolate, spiced desserts, meat, strong cheeses, fish and more.

I have tried this tea for a while now, and it is thoroughly enjoyable. The fruity notes, raspberry if you wish and as indicated by the write-up, tend to dominate the maltiness, but it still tastes like a traditional Assam. So, if you prefer the Assam on the more fruity side, this is for you.
