In the northeastern state of Assam in India, along the Brahmaputra River grow the hearty, malty Assam teas. The heavy rainfall and hot, humid day time temperatures in this area create the perfect green house like environment for growth, as well as helping to create the unique taste found only in Assam teas. Their distinct flavor can be enjoyed "as is"; however, Assam teas are often used in conjunction with other teas to create numerous blends, specifically breakfast teas.

The Belseri Tea Estate is actually made up of the Belseri and Chardwar Tea gardens, which have 1500 acres under cultivation. This tea estate is one of the largest organic tea producers in northern Assam. The tea has medium-black leaves that brew into a bright amber cup. The taste has a creamy, malty, well-balanced cup.

Brew tea at 212º - steep for 3 minutes.

Assam teas complement foods such as chocolate, spiced desserts, meat, strong cheeses, fish and more.

A great everday tea!

I love the great taste & great body (it can take milk or cream.) A perfect tea for guests that may not enjoy black teas.

Excellent Assam

I really like this Assam. It is rich, malty, and buttery smooth. A classic, high quality Assam. I would gladly stock this in my kitchen for others to share with.

Probablty my top Assam choice.

I've been trying a number of S&V Assams. Belseri's plesant leaves brew a flavor to match. The rich, somooth finish is a bit dry for me. But if I had to choose just one Assam, Belesari would be the likely one.

Tough Competition among S&V Assams

S&V Assam Belsari is a consistent 5 star Assam among other reviewers. So it is certainly one to try. I find its flavor full-bodied and its deep brown color is appealing too. But by contrast, I find the flavors of S&V Banaspty and Tongonegon Assans to be brighter and more interesting.

My go-to Assam for breakfast.

This Assam is my absolute favorite either by itself or blended with another black for a breakfast tea. Its very malty and is something that works perfectly on its own, but it also does a great job of pulling together the flavor notes from something else you might mix it with. I like to blend it with Rwanda and Kenya tea for my breakfast tea.
