When I was growing up we had a cherry tree in our backyard. In the springtime I would run from the school bus to my house to see if the cherries were ready for picking. When the tree bore its fruit my siblings and I would pick the cherries right off the tree and gobble them up. This tea brings back those wonderful childhood memories.
I'm kind of addicted to Simpson & Vail's wild cherry black tea! It's the best fruit tea I've ever had. It's so rich and flavorful, with a little cream and honey/agave it makes a perfect year round snack or after meal dessert.
I've been searching for a good cherry tea for quite a while. I found one at a tea shop in Boston many years ago (which has since closed), and have been disappointed with any I've run across since then. When I found this one, it surpassed the ones I've had before. A nice cherry flavor, but not overpowering - not too sweet, not too tart - a pleasant cherry tea. Great year-round, but I particularly enjoy it in summer.
I was a little apprehensive about this blend at first; it has hibiscus in it and hibiscus tends to overpower everything. Happily it doesn't here. It smells like cherry candy in the pouch and tastes like it too if you add sugar. Probably would be nice as an iced tea as well.
This tea was a major surprise for me! I ended up receiving this as a sample and honestly would have never picked this out for myself since it has hibiscus in it. However this tea is absolutely wonderful! It's not overly cherry to the point where it's medicinal- in fact it's perfectly balanced. This tea has a good noticeable cherry flavor while still being able to taste the tea base. Even though it has hibiscus in it, the tea does not take on that tartness I usually dislike. It contains the right amount to just enhance the wild cherry flavor. S&V does it again with their blending mastery!
