Ginger pear is such a wonderful, elegant and flavorful tea. My wife says she definitely taste the pear but to me it taste like really sweet ripe bananas. This black tea even if we steep it for 5 or 6 minutes it is not astringent with tannin. It is Very smooth and makes it such a delight to drink especially with a tea spoon of honey it brings out that full rounded flavor.
I ordered several of the flavored black teas and this was my favorite. Pear tea is unusual to begin with and this had a good pear taste, without being overpowering. Its sweetness was offset nicely by the subtle ginger. If you are looking for a strong ginger tea, this is not it. Its only job here is to add complexity.
I enjoy this tea a great deal, it's gives you both ginger and pear flavors. My only comment is that a flavor a tad too strong that I Iike in a flavored tea. But I give it 5 stars for the tea quality.
The tea has a distinct banana smell. There was very little ginger flavor, so I added some extra dried ginger, and that seemed to do the trick. It's a pretty good tasting tea, but not anything phenomenal in my eye.
Not everything works and this is proof. Love pears. Love ginger. Don't love this particular combination. Actually it was worse for the hour or two after I drank ita kind of artificial aftertaste that lingered. Ordered the lemon ginger and green lemon ginger at the same time, and they're very good. Maybe the pear flavoring is more difficult to work with. Whatever the reason, that's why the 2-oz. bags are good testers.
