Very happy when I opened my new 1 lb bag of Citrus Paradisi tea and inhaled deeply (still happy just thinking about it). I look forward to enjoying this delicious refreshing tea all summer (especially while I'm waiting for winter's "citrus season" to arrive before I buy any grapefruits in the market again). Very glad to find this variety that's "tea" first and "fruity" second without losing that citrus flavor, which enhances the tea as lemon does -- even with sweetener and cream added -- while being unmistakably different.
This is a refreshing take on an Earl Grey. The grapefruit comes through to give this tea a great twist of flavor. I only use a little bit of sweetener with this one.
S&V offers so many Earl Grey blends and I try to sample a new one every time I order. I just tried my first pot of Citrus Paradisi and now I regret that I didn't order a FULL tin! (that will definitely be remedied next order) This blend is marvelously refreshing and the lively grapefruit flavor makes Citrus Paradisi an eclectic member of the Earl Grey family. I tried it plain and enjoyed the strong but smooth Earl Grey flavor with the snap of grapefruit. Adding a touch of local honey brought to mind the sweet tree-ripened grapefruit off my father's tree back home in California. I can't wait to try it iced!
What an absolutely aromatic tea! The dry leaves have a prominent citrus smell, with grapefruit being the most noticeable. What's surprising to me is when brewed it's quite a robust tea! You get the citrus but also you can still taste the base tea which makes for an interestingly hearty cup. I usually find citrus teas to be too light, but this one brews perfectly for me.
The first impression of this tea comes on before it even hits the water: you get a zing of grapefruit upon opening the package, and that flavor doesn't disappoint once it's brewed. The flavor is a touch stronger than the tea, but in a good way. It lingers in your mouth and is very enlivening and refreshing. This tea is excellent iced, and I suspect it would make a fantastic simple syrup for drinks. I can see shaking some vodka, lemon juice, and Citrus Paradisi tea syrup with ice for a delicious cocktail.
