This tea sits in a lovely place somewhere between fruity and floral. I didn't get all that much pepper punch, but then I used to do Hot & Spicy Chinese food challenges when I was younger, so maybe I blew out those taste buds a bit...LOL. The person who said '60's in a cup' really nailed it though. I'm just old enough to remember the 60's and early 70's through a pleasant youthful haze. This blend does indeed bring back some of those memories.
I do not tend to stray from my standard teas, but gave this one a try and am glad for it. Flavor follows aroma of unbrewed tea nicely. The black pepper combines with the fruitiness (blueberry, to me) just right. Somewhat floral and nothing overpowering or unnatural. An extremely reliable and tasty tea.
I can happily eat the same breakfast, the same lunch, and the same dinner for weeks at a time, but I love variety where tea is concerned. It's typical for me to have seven or eight teas in my pantry at any one time. Nonetheless, amid all my happy "tea-hopping," this tea stands out. This is THE ONE, the tea I would choose to take with me to a desert island, the tea I would pick out of all the others if someone forced me at gunpoint :>) to limit myself to just one tea for the rest of my life. It's hard to put into words just what makes it so utterly irresistible and outstanding. Is it the combination of freshness and spiciness with just a hint of sweetness, a combination that is the most refreshing I have ever experienced? Is it the complexity keeps every sip intriguing, a delectable mystery that is all the better because it can't be solved? I can't explain just what makes this tea unique and supreme. All I can say is, PLEASE ALWAYS KEEP THIS TEA IN STOCK! You keep stocking it and I will keep ordering it! :>). I would give it a hundred stars if I could.
I purchased this blend out of pure curiosity. I'm so glad I did. I've never had anything like it. A little spicy, a little sweet, a little floral, with the black tea taste I have always loved. I drank it plain but I think it would be good with milk or cream, no sugar.
Oh wow! This tea is quite a delight. It has a pretty strong pepper note while dry and it surprisingly keeps that pepper kick when brewed. While I don't find that I get any berry notes, I do get a nice floral hint that ends up mixing quite nicely with the peppercorns. It has a very specific and interesting taste. It's a favorite of mine now!
