Chai French Vanilla Black Tea - WS
Chai French Vanilla Black Tea - WS
Chai Masala (Spiced Tea) is a tea blend with origins in India. It is traditionally a mix of black tea and spices that is steeped in milk with sweeteners added to it. For this blend, we've taken our popular Chai tea blend and added the subtle, creamy flavor of French Vanilla. This tea brews to an amber cup with a spicy aroma and a taste that is creamy with spice notes. Rich and delicious tasting!
Ingredients: Black teas, organic cinnamon pieces, organic anise seeds, organic cloves, French vanilla flavor, organic cardamom pods, natural chai flavor, and natural cinnamon flavor.
Brew tea at 212º - steep for 3 minutes.

Masala Chai comes with a flavor profile that takes a second to get used to, so having the vanilla to temper it back out to something familiar for new drinkers can be a must. But I'll rope you in on a secret to the best tea you've ever had: chop half a dried chili pepper (ditch the seeds) and grab some cacao nibs. Throw them in with this vanilla chai. Brew as normal. Ascend to heaven on the spot. It's excellent solo but it's a 12/10 when brewed as a chili chocolate chai, the best flavor combo on the planet. No tea company in the states makes the complete blend, alas, so there's no choice but to mix it by hand.
This tea has a very strong vanilla scent, and maybe that's why vanilla is the strongest flavor that I can taste as well. I like it and I enjoy drinking it, but I think I like a more spicy flavor to my chai tea. Overall, I feel the tea is missing something for me personally.
I was hoping to find more of a vanilla taste to this tea. It also doesn't have the strong Chai flavor I'm use to in other chai teas. Despite that, it still is a good tasting tea.
I will start off by stating I am not a big fan of most chai teas. I usually find them to be too strong and heavy on the spices. This chai was exactly what I have been looking for. It has some spice but its not in your face. The vanilla adds a nice soft creamy note to the tea.
When I purchased this I expected something creamier. The vanilla flavor was very faint, easily overshadowed by the spices and the base tea itself. I got the best results by steeping for three minutes using near-boiling water, as it had an unpleasant aftertaste if the water was any hotter. Not really a hit; I liked the chocolate chai far more.
