Costa Rica, a country in Central America, enjoys the reputation of having high quality Arabica coffee. This country was first explored by Columbus in 1502 and was named Costa Rica (Rich Coast). First planted in the 19th century, coffee became Costa Rica's first major export. It is cultivated in the middle of the country in mountainous regions with elevations ranging from 3000 to over 5000 ft.

Coffee is grown in volcanic red soil, on mountain slopes with morning sun and afternoon cloud cover, which provides an ideal rich environment that results in a superior coffee. The coffee is harvested from October thru mid March during the dry season. The coffee is then wet processed which contributes to the sweet, full bodied coffee with hearty richness and lively acidity. [Acidity meaning a sharp, pleasing, piquant quality that highlights the flavor and results in a snap, verve and liveliness in the cup.

Tarrazu, a region in Costa Rica, is famous for producing one of the finest coffees in the world. Coffee is still predominantly grown on small farms. Try this Arabica brew and you'll see that the care and attention given to these beans is evident in the rich, full bodied cup with a dry, bright taste and nutty overtones.

Excellent

I don't know why I think that there is something very special about Costa Rican coffee. Maybe it's just my imagination; I've never been there either. A very good coffee that hits all the rights spots and is very satisfying.
