Decaf Vanilla Black Tea - WS
Decaf Vanilla Black Tea - WS
Vanilla planifolia, is indigenous to Mexico, where it is pollinated by tiny humming birds and a bee called Melipona. Vanilla is actually in the orchid family and is the only orchid to produce an edible fruit. Hand pollination has allowed the vanilla plant to be grown in other places in the world such as Madagascar and Tahiti.
We're so lucky to be able to have vanilla so readily available to us! This bean produces a heady aroma and flavor that infuses your taste buds with exotic wonder. This decaf black tea blend has a vanilla flavor similar to vanilla extract. The deep amber cup is delectable, and is perfect as is, or with just a touch of sweetener. Try blending a little in with other teas to create marvelous new taste sensations.
Ingredients: Decaf black tea and vanilla flavor.
Brew tea at 212º - steep for 3 minutes.
This tea is decaffeinated using the all-natural CO2 process.
Natural CO2 Decaffeination To decaffeinate tea it is necessary to find a solvent that will remove the caffeine from the leaf, while keeping as many of the healthy benefits and the taste profiles in. The best method we have found is natural CO2 decaffeination. This method consists of putting moistened tea leaves in a chamber, adding CO2 and pressurizing it. CO2, when pressurized, becomes a liquid which effectively removes caffeine from tea leaves, while just as effectively not removing many of the healthy benefits. When the liquid is poured off the leaves and the leaves are dried, the CO2 reverts back to its gas form and dissipates from the leaf. Decaffeinated teas generally still have 1-2% caffeine.

This is a good-tasting tea. But I found the vanilla flavor to be a little too subtle. I thought adding a touch of honey may help to bring out the vanilla (like Christmas cookies!) but it did not. So it either it needs to be steeped longer or maybe more vanilla flavors could be added.
