China Keemun Black Tea - WS
This China black tea is produced in the Anhui province in Qimen (Keemun) County. Located in eastern China, in the southern part of the province, this Keemun tea has slender black leaves that are tightly curled and yield a full-bodied tea with a flowery bouquet.
Brew tea at 212º - steep for 3 minutes.
Green Beans with Garlic and Tea
1 lb. fresh green beans, trimmed
2 cloves of garlic, minced
2 tbsp. Keemun tea leaves, brewed in two cups of water
Steam green beans in water. While beans are steaming, saut‚ minced garlic in one tsp. of canola oil until opaque. Add brewed tea and simmer with garlic for a few minutes. This China Keemun is outstanding! It is full bodied and flavorful, but also smooth and mellow. Several of our friends who have tried this have also been greatly impressed with this excellent tea.
Found this tea boring. Compared side-by-side with the China black (Yunnan) and found the two indistinguishable. Medium body without much bitterness but not supple either. A basic breakfast blend type tea with a slight smoky hint on the finish. Not terrible, but unimpressive.
China Keemun black tea right out of the bag has an almost winey aroma. It brews up to a deep amber color with a nose that hints at apricot and raw almond to me--I see that others find this more of a floral nose. In any case, it is both delicate and rich, without much tannin, for a smooth, delightful brew at an excellent price.
