I like a strong black tea ( Imperial Yunnan, China Golden Monkey ). I also love Rose fragrance, so this tea appealed to my senses, but I wasnt sure. I ordered the One Ounce size to Try. The smell was lovely but I still wasnt sure until I tasted it. This is one of my NEW FAVORITES. I adore this tea. I still get my jolt of deep Black Tea with the most wonderful taste of the Rose, and Cardamom ( another Favorite). I like a "Bold" tea and this ranks among my top Teas from Simpson & Vail. I will always have this on hand.
I NORMALLY DO NOT LIKE FLOWERED TEAS BUT THIS ONE IS NOT OVERPOWERING. THE TASTE OF THE ROSE BLENDS WELL WITH THE CARDAMOM FLAVOR AND LEAVES ME WITH A CREAMY TASTE. A GOOD EVERYDAY TEA.
THIS TEA HAS A NICE AROMA---I HAPPEN TO LIKE CARDAMOM, SOME MAY NOT. ONCE BREWED THE ROSE SCENT LIGHTENS AND A STRONG TASTE OF CARDAMOM COMES THROUGH. GREAT FOR A PICK ME UP OR A BREAKFAST TEA.
This was my introduction to rose tea and it was fabulous! The aroma is quite enjoyable and bold while dry. Once steeped the fragrance becomes softer, but still keeps it's intricacies. The level of spice in this tea is just right for my tastes. I don't think it overpowers the rose and the rose doesn't overpower the cardamom. It's a perfect balance for me!
Normally I like rose and cardamom-flavored things, but sadly this wasn't the case with this tea. The smell was unpleasantly strong, and the rose was overpowered by the heavy cardamom flavor. Sugar did not help any, and I think in fact worsened the effect.
