Nepal Himalayan Gold Pearls Organic Black Tea
Himalayan Gold Pearls comes from the Tinjure Cooperative in Phakphok in the Ilam District. Tinjure Cooperative is Nepal’s first organic tea cooperative. This tea delivers a smooth, full-bodied cup with a lingering, sweet finish. Perfect for those who enjoy a luxurious, aromatic black tea that is naturally sweet with malty undertones and notes of caramel and dates.
Early in the 1990s, three villages on three hillsides united and started cultivating tea. They honored their geography by naming themselves Tinjure, which translated to “three hills”. The newly created Tinjure Cooperative marketed its collected green leaf to established Nepali tea gardens in the area, such as Kanchenjunga Tea Estate. In order to create their own processing facility and make their own tea from the green leaves they harvest, the Tinjure Cooperative started raising funds in 2013. As of right now, the Tinjure Cooperative has 240 members.
This artisanal tea is meticulously crafted using only the terminal bud and the top two leaves of the tea plant. The careful plucking and delicate processing techniques preserve the fragile buds, resulting in an unusually high bud count for a black tea. This thoughtful craftsmanship imparts the tea with its signature velvety texture and intricate flavor profile, where deep honey and chocolate notes intertwine with bright, fruity aromas.
Founded by a collective of passionate small-scale farmers, Tinjure focuses on sustainable farming practices and community-driven production. Their commitment to organic cultivation and traditional handcrafting techniques has not only elevated the quality of Nepali teas but also empowered local communities through fair trade and environmentally responsible practices.
Brew tea at 212º - steep for 3-5 minutes. For a second infusion, steep for 4.5 minutes to reveal deeper honeyed notes and lingering sweetness.
