Decaf Black Currant Tea - WS
Decaf Black Currant Tea - WS
The flavor of Black Currants is tart with a slight touch of sweetness, they have a pungent, musky flavor. This blend brews to a bright amber cup with the distinctive tart, sweet black currant taste.
Ingredients: Decaf black teas, blackberry leaves and black currant flavoring.
Brew tea at 212º - steep for 3 minutes.
This tea is decaffeinated using the all-natural CO2 process.
Natural CO2 Decaffeination To decaffeinate tea it is necessary to find a solvent that will remove the caffeine from the leaf, while keeping as many of the healthy benefits and the taste profiles in. The best method we have found is natural CO2 decaffeination. This method consists of putting moistened tea leaves in a chamber, adding CO2 and pressurizing it. CO2, when pressurized, becomes a liquid which effectively removes caffeine from tea leaves, while just as effectively not removing many of the healthy benefits. When the liquid is poured off the leaves and the leaves are dried, the CO2 reverts back to its gas form and dissipates from the leaf. Decaffeinated teas generally still have 1-2% caffeine.

This tea is so flavorful! Its now my favorite of all Ive tried. Great in the afternoon when I want quiet and peace. So relaxing to sit with a cup or two and relax. I absolutely love it.
Flavor is weak, watery when brewed with 1 tsp per 6 oz cup. Must use much more for acceptable currant flavor.
Finding a good decaf tea is a challenge but this currant black tea is very good. This is the first decaf tea I've had from Simpson and Vail and it is one of the few I've found that is so flavorful. It tastes of tea, not just of the pleasant and not overly fruity taste of the currants.
This tea has a definite fruity taste. And I was pleasantly surprised that it was not bitter at all so I could drink it without anything sweet put into it. But when I added a little honey, it got even better. Guess I have a sweet tooth!
