Decaf Green Tea
Decaf Green Tea
The large, dark, greenish-brown leaf brews to a light amber cup, with a slightly sweet taste. This decaf China green sencha tea from Zhejiang, China has more body than traditional green teas.
Brew tea at 180º - steep for 2 minutes.
This tea is decaffeinated using the all-natural CO2 process.
Natural CO2 Decaffeination To decaffeinate tea it is necessary to find a solvent that will remove the caffeine from the leaf, while keeping as many of the healthy benefits and the taste profiles in. The best method we have found is natural CO2 decaffeination. This method consists of putting moistened tea leaves in a chamber, adding CO2 and pressurizing it. CO2, when pressurized, becomes a liquid which effectively removes caffeine from tea leaves, while just as effectively not removing many of the healthy benefits. When the liquid is poured off the leaves and the leaves are dried, the CO2 reverts back to its gas form and dissipates from the leaf. Decaffeinated teas generally still have 1-2% caffeine.

This tea has more complex flavor and a greater depth of flavor than other green teas I've had. I like it better than non-decaf Japanese sencha, which is supposed to set the standard for senchas. I think I was weaned onto black tea, which remains my favorite. But the caffeine began to be problematic, so in recent decades I've drunk more green teas. This one is terrific. It's my new standby. I'm back to order more--and to look for a non-decaf Chinese sencha from SV tea. I brew 1 measuring tablespoon for 3 minutes in 12 oz of water heated to190 degrees. That's a bit hot and a bit long, but I like a rich tea--as long as it's not bitter!
I am pleased with this purchase. It has a clear green tea taste without being overwhelming and with no artificial flavors that leave a bad taste. I enjoy this with honey and without honey, depending on what I feel like that day. I really appreciate that it is decaf; I am always looking for more decaf choices.
GREEN TEA IS NOT MY FAVORITE---BUT THIS TEA HAS GOOD FLAVOR AND DOESN'T LEAVE THAT ANNOYING AFTERTASTE OF BITTERNESS THAT YOU GET WITH OTHER GREENS-----AND IT'S DECAF! DRINK IT ANYTIME YOU NEED A PICK ME UP---I DO!
I drink a lot of decaf green tea. I wanted to try fresh brewed. This tea is delicious and I love to relax with a cup. Thank you for such good products.
Okay, I really never liked green tea. I know of the health benefits but, honestly I couldn't find any green tea I liked. But this decaf green tea is such a surprise! It is a very light colored tea. It was so light, I had to check my infuser to make sure I had added the leaves! But it is sweet without any bitter aftertaste. I do still prefer other teas to green. But this is the best, by far!
