Holiday Tea Gift Ideas

Nov 21, 2013

Here are some great Holiday Tea & Coffee Gift Ideas for the Holiday season.  And the best news … they are fun, easy & fast to create!

Make your own teabags

You’ll need:

Tea
Paper tea sacs
stapler
string
paper
markers

Fill the Tea sacs with 1 tsp of tea.  Fold over until the opening is closed, place a string on the edge and staple closed.  Make a tea tag by cutting the paper into your desired shape (teapot, tea cup, flower, etc.).  Write the name of the blend or the name of your gift person and any other information you would like (brewing information, information on the tea blend, etc…).  Staple your tea tag to the other end of the teabag string.

Put your handmade teabags in an envelope, decorative tin or jar.

Bath Tea Blends

Floral teas make an excellent addition to baths.  To create a spa gift for you loved one you will need:

Decorative jar or tin
chamomile, roses, lavender

DIY Sugar Cubes

Make your own Sugar cubes to accompany your handmade tea bags.

I found these  easy to make sugar cubes here!

Herbal Massage Oil

½ cup almond or canola oil
1 Tbsp lavender flowers and/or rose petals

Mix together the herbs and the oil.

There are a few methods for infusing the aroma into the oil. You can either:
Place the mixture in a glass jar, seal, and put in a sunny place for 2 weeks. Shake at least once a day. After 2 weeks, strain the herbs from the oil.

Or
Heat the mixture gently in the microwave or in a double boiler on the stove. Do not boil. Cool. Strain the herbs from the oil.

Relaxing Dream Pillow

Passion Flower

Lavender Flowers

Rose Petals

Chamomile Flowers

2 pieces of Fabric 6″ x 6″

With a needle and thread, sew 3 sides of the fabric together. In a mixing bowl, stir together all the herbs. Spoon the herb blend into the pillow you’ve sewn. Once it is filled sew the 4th side of the fabric.

Place the dream sachet inside your pillowcase for a relaxing night’s sleep.

Homemade Kahlua

6 cups strong brewed coffee
1 lb brown sugar
3 Tbsp vanilla extract
2 cups vodka

While the coffee is hot pour in the sugar and stir until the sugar dissolves.  Let cool and then add the vanilla extract and the vodka.

Put in a mason jar or decorative bottle, decorate with ribbon, and make a booklet of recipes for your gift recipient.

I also found a great book called Homemade Liqueurs and Infused Spirits, by Andrew Schloss at my local bookstore.  He has some fantastic recipes for Kahlua, Chai-namon, Spiced Run (with anise, cardamom, chiles and vanilla beans) and a delicious sounding Lavender White Tea infused with vodka and dry vermouth.  I think I’ll be making a few of these recipes this year!

Mulling Spices

Place our mulling spices in a pint sized mason jar.  Place the lid on the jar and cover with fabric, then place the ring on top of the mason jar to seal.  Wrap a ribbon around the jar and tie on mulling spice directions.

Directions: Place 4 cups of apple cider, wine or brewed tea in a saucepan and add 2 Tbsp of Mulling Spice Blend. Simmer for 20 minutes. Enjoy

Candy Cane Rooibos Scrub

4 tablespoons of granulated sugar
2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
1 Tbsp Candy Cane Rooibos

In a spice grinder, grind Candy Candy Rooibos until it is powdered.  In a bowl, mix together the Candy Cane Rooibos, the olive oil and the sugar.

Put in a plastic container, add a label and … voila! The perfect holiday gift!
