Uncovering the mystery of our new Literary Tea
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Black Tea!
We're excited to announce the latest addition to our Literary tea line - Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Black Tea blend!
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (May 22, 1859 – July 7, 1930), a doctor and writer, was best known as the creator of the legendary detective Sherlock Holmes. For most people Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Sherlock Holmes are one in the same. In fact, I don't think you can mention Doyle without conjuring up images of Sherlock Holmes, pipe in mouth, tartan plaid cape and deerstalker hat, investigating the most confounding of crimes.
When we started to create this tea blend, we perused information about Doyle as well as details he wrote about Holmes. Since the mentioning of specific teas was not directly referenced, we researched teas that were popular during Doyle’s time. That started the foundation of the blend, a smoky Lapsang Souchong favored by one Winston Churchill. To that we added bourbon whiskey flavor, as a nod to Holmes’ penchant for imbibing, and rounded it off with black tea from Ceylon and a little wild cherry, alluding to Holmes’ cherrywood pipe.
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Black Tea is a blend that pays tribute to the suspense and depth found in his literary works. This robust, full-bodied cup captures the essence of a classic English tea and unites it with the flavors prominent during Victorian times. It has a smoky, fruity aroma and brews to a mahogany cup that has a cherry forward taste with a lingering smoky bourbon taste.
This blend joins seventeen other teas in our literary tea line. Each of these eighteen teas comes in their own specially designed tins branded to each author, their lives and works.
The full line now includes:
Louisa May Alcott Maya Angelou
Jane Austen the Bronte Sisters
Lewis Carroll Charles Dickens
